01About Lumen Tool

Lumen Tool is a browser-based lighting tool for photographers, videographers and artists. It contains dedicated lighting studios, reference tools and the Archive.

Lumen Tool is still being developed. Some features may be incomplete, experimental or changed over time. The public website is available without an account; using Lumen Tool requires a paid subscription.

02Website and tool use

You may use Lumen Tool to plan lighting setups for personal and commercial work. You are responsible for how you use the results.

You agree not to misuse the website or tool. This means you must not attempt to interfere with its security, availability or normal operation, access systems without permission, upload malicious code, scrape the site in a disruptive way, or use it for unlawful purposes.

03Your setups and content

Photo Lighting projects can be downloaded as files to your own computer and opened again later. The Archive is separate account storage for the lighting setups, comparisons, previews, notes and optional photos you explicitly save there. You can download a complete Archive backup, including its stored photos, and restore it later. The backup contains the processed Archive images, not original camera uploads.

You keep ownership of the setups and content you create or upload. Lumen Tool does not claim ownership of your work.

04Product ownership

Lumen Tool owns the website, product design, interface, branding, software, text, structure and visual design created for the service, unless stated otherwise.

You may not copy, reproduce, resell, redistribute, reverse engineer or misuse any part of Lumen Tool without permission.

05No professional advice

Lumen Tool is a visual planning tool. It helps you understand direction, contrast and balance faster, but it does not replace a real camera test, a real studio setup or a light meter, and it does not provide professional advice. You remain responsible for your own decisions and results.

06Availability and changes

We aim to keep Lumen Tool useful, stable and available, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.

We may update, change, limit, suspend or discontinue any part of the website or tool as it develops.

07Accounts and signing in

The public website works without an account. Lumen Tool access needs one, and that account is your email address: you ask for a sign-in code or link, we mail it to you, and either can sign you in. There is no Lumen Tool password.

Signing in keeps you signed in on that device until you sign out, remove the browser session or delete the account. Keep your mailbox secure, because access to your email can also provide access to your Lumen Tool account. Tell us at franck@lumentool.com if you think someone else got in.

One account is for one person. Sharing your sign-in so several people can use one subscription is not allowed, and we may end an account that does it.

08Subscriptions and payment

Lumen Tool is available as a monthly or yearly subscription. Payment runs through Stripe, our payment provider. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach us; we receive the information needed to activate and manage your subscription.

The current price is shown on the Pricing page and again at checkout. Depending on your market, Lumen Tool may show euro or US-dollar pricing and Stripe may offer local-currency conversion at checkout. VAT or sales tax is calculated during payment, and a business can enter its VAT or tax number there.

A subscription renews by itself at the end of each period, at the price in force at the time, until you cancel. We will tell you beforehand if the price for your plan changes.

You cancel yourself, whenever you like, on your account page. Lumen Tool then keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for, and is not charged again. There is no refund for the rest of a period you have already paid, unless the law where you live says otherwise.

If a payment fails, Stripe may retry it for a limited period. Lumen Tool can stay available while those attempts are in progress. If the subscription ends, Lumen Tool access ends too; the public website remains available.

You can delete your account from your account page. That removes what we keep about you here. When your subscription ends, your account and your Archive are kept for 30 more days and then removed, after a reminder email three days before. A running subscription does not stop by itself, so cancel it first if you want the payments to stop.

09Third-party services

Lumen Tool relies on trusted third-party services for hosting, infrastructure, payment, email and analytics. The tool is hosted on OVHcloud servers in the United States, Coolify is used to put updates live, Stripe handles payments and subscriptions, and Resend delivers sign-in and account mail.

Personal data may therefore be transferred to and processed in the United States, as explained in the Privacy & cookies and Data processing pages.

Privacy-restricted Google Analytics measures basic website use by default and is configured to avoid advertising features and precise location. You can turn it off at any time on the Privacy & cookies page.

10Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lumen Tool is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or business losses, including loss of profit, loss of data, lost opportunities or project delays arising from use of the website or tool.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

11Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Lumen Tool develops, especially when new features or paid plans are introduced. The latest version will be published on this page, and the date above shows when it was last changed.
