Camera and perspective

Updated September 29, 2026

The camera is part of the study. The same pose looks completely different from above, from the side or up close with a wide angle.

Moving around the hand

With a mouse, drag to orbit around the hand, right-drag to move the view sideways or up and down, and scroll to zoom. On a touch screen, drag with one finger to orbit, use two fingers to move and pinch to zoom. Keyboard shortcuts work too.

Center, or Reset camera in the Camera panel, brings back the standard three-quarter view with the whole study in frame.

View presets

The Camera panel has Front, Side, Top, ¾ view, Low angle and Foreshortening. Each sets both the direction and the field of view, and always frames the complete hand and arm.

Field of view

Field of view runs from 20° to 85°. Narrow flattens the perspective and feels distant. Wide exaggerates depth, especially close to the hand, which is ideal for studying foreshortening.

Switching between Vertical and Lying returns the camera to a three-quarter view, so the hand stays in sight. After that you can move freely again.
