Lighting presets

A preset places the lights for a well-known lighting pattern in one click. It is a starting position: face shape, viewing angle and your own changes all affect the final shadow.

• Rembrandt: a light from the side and above, for the lit triangle on the shadow-side cheek.
• Butterfly: a high, central Key for a small shadow under the nose.
• Split: a Key from the side, so one half of the face is lit.
• Loop: a Key slightly off to the side, with a small nose shadow.
• Rim Light: light around the edge of the subject, for separation.
• 3-Point: a ready-made Key, Fill and back light.
• Broad and Short: the Key on the side of a turned face that is turned toward the camera (Broad) or away from it (Short).

Rim Light, 3-Point, Broad and Short all need a back light, so they appear once Advanced Mode is on.

Pick the preset closest to what you want, then refine it with the light controls. Every preset sets all four lights, so nothing carries over from the setup you had before.
