What the Reference Lab is for

Studio 03 · Reference Lab reads the light in a portrait you like. Drop in a picture and it works out where the main light probably came from, how deep the shadows are, what the eye reflections show and which lighting pattern fits best.

It then builds that setup on a Lumen Tool head, so you can see the portrait and the simulated version side by side. When you like the result, open it in Photo Lighting and carry on from there.

The steps are simple: choose a picture, read the result, then open it in Photo Lighting.

What it cannot do

Reference Lab only sees one finished image. It cannot tell which lamp, modifier, power or distance was really used, or how the studio was laid out. Treat the result as a smart starting point for rebuilding the light, not as proof of how the photo was made.
