Into the Lighting Simulator
Open in Lighting Simulator takes the setup you see and opens it in the simulator, with the lights already in place. Treat it as a starting point. From there you move the lights, change the softness or add a light, until it looks the way you want.
Your portrait comes along
The photo sits as a small picture in the corner of the 3D view, and a Reference switch appears in the bottom corner, the same kind of switch as Surface.
- Click the small picture and the photo opens beside the head, so you can set the light with the original right next to it
- Click the photo or press Escape to make it small again
- Drag the edge between the photo and the head to give the photo more or less room; double click that edge to put it back
- Set the switch to Off when you want the full view for a while, and to On to bring the photo back
Going back and forth
Use the Studio link at the top to go back to the Reference Lab. Your portrait and its read-out are still there, so you do not have to read it again. Reloading the page keeps it too. It is only forgotten when you close the tab.
